Springtime in Virginia

Susan from A Southern Daydreamer is hosting Outdoor Wednesday. Please visit her site for a list of bloggers participating in the event this week.

Here are some photos of things you'll see in my part of Virginia this time of year... all photos were taken by me this spring. Enjoy!

Ducklings, oh wait a minute... are these geese? Yes, I think they are... oops.

Baby squirrel watching my every move. The adult squirrels are much more skiddish and about 3 times the size. This little guy was so inquisitive.

Muscari in bloom.

New tree growth highlighted by dappled early morning sunshine.

Ferns fronds unfurling.

Lovely spring blossoms.

Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains.

Yellow Bearded Iris.

Purple Bearded Iris.

Lots of fresh Basil... come to Mamma!

Hosta (before the deer and slugs discovered it).

A lovely little stream along a dirt road. I went back to this location today and the stream was nothing more than a trickle. This photo was taken after more than a week of steady rain. I'll have to file that info away in the memory bank for next time.

Wisteria on a wire fence next to a very busy roadway.

Momma Duck relaxing while the babies go for a swim.

Nest making time.

Holly flower buds. Did you know holly bushes flower? I didn't.

Easter Redbud in bloom. So pretty against the moss covered trees in the background.

Bradford Pear tree in bloom. This is an ornamental tree, which mean it doesn't bear fruit, but I love how the color of the leaves is a true 'pear green'.

I hope you enjoyed the tour. Thanks for stopping by.
