A New Baking Group - Heavenly Cake Bakers

ButterYumToday begins a new blogger baking group designed to bake through the highly anticipated and newly released book Rose's Heavenly Cakes by Rose Levy Beranbaum, famed author of The Cake Bible.

I can truly say Rose's recipes are among the best of the best! Not only is Rose a wonderfully generous person and spectacularly skilled teacher, she has been absolutely instrumental in my own journey, starting as a mom making birthday cakes for my family 20 years ago, to a wedding cake maker - something I'd always dreamed of doing, but never thought would happen. I've expressed my gratitude to Rose on several occasions, and she's always responded in the most lovely and encouraging way. She's truly a gem and a national baking treasure! (Psst... keep posted for an upcoming blog interview with Rose)

Whether your new to the world of baking, or are a seasoned professional, feel free to head on over to Marie's blog and become one of Rose's
Heavenly Cake Bakers.

Upcoming Selections

October 5: Hungarian Jancsi Torta
October 12: Barcelona Brownie Bars
October 19: Apple Upside-Down Cake
October 26: Almond Shamah Chiffon
November 2: Pumpkin Cake with Burnt Orange Buttercream

Rules
  • You must own, or have easy access to, a copy of Rose's Heavenly Cakes.
  • You must have a blog.
  • At the beginning of each month Marie will post the recipes that will be featured for that month. Marie will bake one per week, but you only have to agree to bake two of the selections. Of course you can bake more often if you like.
  • Blog posts should be made within 24 hours of the date given.
  • If you run out of steam or feel you can’t keep baking, let Marie know so she can remove you from the list of Heavenly Cake Bakers - that way, readers will know that only active bakers are on the list of bloggers.
  • Recipes will not be posted on your blogs since everyone will have a copy of the book and we want to encourage sales of Rose's Heavenly Cakes.
  • And lastly, have fun!

  2. I want to do this, but what do we do with all the cakes? I might have to eat them, or perhaps the Hubs. What do you suggest? Sharing with the neighbors? Mumzie :0

  3. Hi Mumzie - Baked goodies make welcome treats at the office, with the neighbors, coffee fellowship at church, and sometimes shelters or food banks will accept them as well.

  7. Hi Patricia!

My name is Joy, and I have a baking based blog called "Hot Oven, Warm Heart." I contacted you (and the other coordinator of Heavenly Cake Bakers) over a month ago, but unfortunately, I never heard back. I was hoping to get more information and possibly sign up, but was a bit disheartened when I didn't get a response. If it's not too much trouble, I'd really appreciate it if you could get in touch with me at your earliest convenience... I know you're now giving away signed copies of the book, and I hope I'm not too late to sign up for that (especially since I tried expressing an interest in the group a while back). Thank you so much for your time, consideration, and understanding, and I look forward to hearing from you soon! Here is my email address: joy.d.saunders@gmail.com, please feel free to contact me anytime ... I really appreciate your help, and I hope you're having a great day!

    Thanks again,
    Joy

  8. I'm afraid you must have me confused with someone else. I am only a follow of Heavenly Cake Bakers, I am not a coordinator or co-author of that blog.

  10. This sounds like fun but I think I'll just be a lurker and watch the goings on from the fence. Should be some lovely cakes come out of this group.

  12. All of you cake ladies are a testament to Rose's talent. She's such a wonderful, sweet person and I'm sure she will get immense enjoyment from this project. Her recipes are so wonderful -- has anyone here every tried her Pound Cake (from the Cake Bible I think). For fainting!

~ Waving ~ Hey Rose, if you stop by here and read the comments a big hello! It's been ages.

  14. This is a wonderful idea for a group of baking wonders. I have the book and it is beautiful with recipes galore.

I am afraid to make the commitment to another group, If I did, I would only make a commitment to two times a month but I just don't feel secure enough to take on another responsibility as nice as it would be. I will follow you though and if I have baking time, I have the book to use.

I want to wish you lots of luck with this group. It sounds just right.
